I only recommend products and services that I genuinely believe in and use myself. The year-end sales season is a golden opportunity for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and DIYers to boost revenue and grow their audience. But if your Squarespace website isn’t ready, you could miss out on valuable traffic and conversions.
Whether you sell products, services, or digital downloads, prepping your site for the holiday rush—and setting it up for long-term success—requires more than just a fresh banner. In this guide, I’ll break down actionable steps to get your Squarespace site holiday-ready, maximize your visibility, and keep your momentum going well into the new year.
Audit Your Website’s Performance
Before diving into festive updates, take a step back and audit your current site.
The Yoast of Squarespace?
I cannot recommend this platform enough– SEOSpace is here to help audit your site and make sure every page is using best practices for the best Search Engine Optimization
You must also be using tools like Google Analytics and Squarespace’s built-in analytics to review your traffic sources, top-performing pages, and bounce rates. Identify which products or services are already popular and which pages aren’t converting.
Some things to consider with analytics
Generally, a bounce rate between 26% and 40% is excellent, while 41% to 55% is average, and 56% to 70% might be higher than desired, but not unusual, especially depending on the industry and website type.
Look for slow-loading images, broken links, or outdated content that could frustrate potential customers. A thorough audit helps you prioritize updates and ensures you’re building on a solid foundation.
Refresh Your Design for the Season
Visuals matter—especially during the holidays. Update your homepage with seasonal banners, promotional graphics, or subtle festive touches that match your brand. But don’t go overboard; too many changes can confuse returning visitors. Consider creating a dedicated holiday landing page or highlighting special offers with announcement bars. Use Squarespace’s easy drag-and-drop tools to tweak layouts, update product images, and ensure your site looks polished and inviting. Remember, consistency in colour, font, and branding builds trust and helps shoppers feel confident in their purchase decisions.
Optimize for SEO and Holiday Search Trends
Year-end shoppers are searching with intent. Update your site’s SEO by researching holiday-specific keywords relevant to your products or services.
Incorporate these keywords into your titles, meta descriptions, product listings, and blog posts to enhance your online presence. Don’t forget to optimize images with descriptive alt text.
Make sure each page has a clear, keyword-rich meta description to improve click-through rates from search engines. Consider creating holiday gift guides or blog content that targets trending search terms, positioning your site as a helpful resource during the busy season.
Streamline Your User Experience for Conversions
A seamless shopping experience is critical for converting visitors into customers. Simplify your navigation so shoppers can easily find holiday deals, bestsellers, or last-minute gifts.
Test your checkout process for speed and clarity—remove unnecessary steps, offer multiple payment options, and prominently display shipping deadlines. Use Squarespace’s built-in announcement bars or pop-ups to highlight free shipping, discounts, or limited-time offers.
Add trust signals like customer reviews, secure checkout badges, and clear return policies to reassure hesitant buyers.
Leverage Email Marketing and Automation
Don’t let your hard-earned website traffic slip away. Build or segment your email list to target past customers, loyal fans, and new subscribers with personalized holiday campaigns. Use Squarespace Email Campaigns to send out festive newsletters, exclusive offers, or reminders about upcoming sales.
Set up automated abandoned cart emails (Available on Squarespace Commerce plans) to recover lost sales and schedule follow-up messages to thank customers or encourage repeat business. Well-timed, relevant emails can drive significant revenue during the holidays and keep your audience engaged into the new year.
Integrate Social Media and Paid Promotions
Your website and social channels should work hand-in-hand. Make it easy for visitors to share your products or content by adding social sharing buttons to product pages and blog posts. Promote your holiday offers on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest, using consistent branding and messaging.
Consider running targeted ads to reach new audiences or retarget past visitors. Use UTM codes to track which social posts drive the most traffic and sales, then double down on what works. Cross-promotion amplifies your reach and brings more qualified traffic to your Squarespace site.
Prepare for Post-Holiday Success
Don’t let your momentum fade after the holidays. Plan post-sale campaigns to turn first-time buyers into loyal customers—think thank-you emails, exclusive “New Year” discounts, or invitations to join your loyalty program.
Review your analytics to see what worked and what didn’t, and use those insights to refine your strategy for the next big sales event. Keep your website fresh by regularly updating content, launching new products, or sharing behind-the-scenes stories. A strong finish to the year sets the stage for growth in the months ahead.
Bonus - Automate Your Marketing Efforts
Yes, automate your marketing using the Enji Platform
If you’d like to read my full blog post about Enji, you can check it out here. Or, if you have 5 minutes, please watch the video below, as Tayler, one of the founders, explains how Enji works!
Conclusion:
All this to say, I can admit there are a few things here that even I am lacking. It’s not easy when you’re doing it alone! I get it, we’re wearing many, many hats. 🎩 This past year I’ve been using Enji to help me with my marketing efforts and I can honestly say, I’m not sure how I would have gotten through the year without it. BUT! I did fall off a bit in the fall due to a vacation, and I can see the difference in my traffic alone, because I didn’t plan and organize to stay consistent.
And with all that said, prepping your Squarespace site for year-end sales isn’t just about making quick changes for the holidays—it’s about creating a seamless, attractive, and user-friendly experience that converts visitors into lifelong customers. By auditing your site, refreshing your design, optimizing for SEO, streamlining the user experience, leveraging email marketing, integrating social media, scheduling your marketing (takes a deep breath) and planning for the future, you’ll be ready to make the most of the holiday rush and set yourself up for success well into the new year.
