Set some serious targets – I'm talking S.M.A.R.T. goals. You know, those things that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Yes, that ol’ chestnut.

Instead of "get more followers," try "gain 100 new Instagram followers in the next 30 days." That way, you know exactly what you're aiming for and can track your progress like a pro.

Now, let's talk about content. It's not just about posting pretty pictures (though those are important!). You gotta understand your audience – who are they, what makes them tick, what problems are they trying to solve? Create content that solves their problems, answers their questions, and provides real value. When you give your audience what they crave, they'll stick around, engage with your stuff, and even become your biggest cheerleaders.

  1. Don't Put All Your Eggs in One Basket: Seriously, diversify your income streams. Brand deals can be cool, but what if they dry up? Explore options like selling your own merch, creating online courses, or even starting a membership community for your biggest fans. I’ve only now realized this is possible in the last few years of business.

  2. Share Your Magic: You've got valuable knowledge, so share it! Offer consulting, and coaching, or create in-depth guides that help others level up.

  3. Build a Solid Foundation: Don't just chase quick wins. Focus on building a diverse income stream that provides consistent and reliable support for your creative endeavours.

Organization is key to crushing your business development goals. That's where project management tools come in – they're total lifesavers.

Think Trello, Asana, Notion, or Monday.com – these platforms let you build visual boards with lists and cards. You can track tasks, set deadlines, and even collaborate with your team (if you have one!).

Here's the best part: seeing your workflow laid out keeps you on track. No more scrambling to remember what needs to be done – everything's right there in front of you. Plus, these tools often connect with other apps you use, so you can manage everything from one central hub.

I use Asana. I’ve tried Monday.com and loved it, but I think it’s best for bigger teams. I’m obsessed with Asana and have been using it for almost 10 years! The free version is incredible on its own.

Solution 2 - Financial Management Software

If I could lend any advice at all. If you have any kind of budget, I would recommend hiring financial aid. An accountant first over anything! Personally, I’m not a finance person. This is the thing I need help with the most, so it made perfect sense to me to spend my money on someone who can help me with my finances.

On top of this, having a financial management system is paramount for digital creators. Keeping track of your income, expenses, and taxes can be overwhelming, so be sure to look into software like QuickBooks or Xero to help simplify this process.

These tools offer features like invoicing, expense tracking, and financial reporting, which can save you time and reduce the risk of errors. By automating your financial management, you can focus more on creating content and less on crunching numbers.

Thankfully we have tools like Hootsuite, Sprout Social or Later Social to help us schedule posts and track our metrics so we can analyze performance across all these platforms.

It’s important to plan your content and schedule it because this will make your months easier to focus on the rest of what comes with posting–engagement and data tracking.

The Importance of Time Management and Scheduling

Time management is a superpower for us creators. Juggling both the creative and business sides can feel like a circus act, but with the right tools, it's totally doable.

Calendar apps like Google Calendar or Outlook are your best friends. Schedule everything – meetings, deadlines, even dedicated time blocks for focused work. Set reminders so you don't miss a beat. Ahem, Asana is also great for this!

And don't forget to track your time! You might be surprised where those hours fly by. This helps you understand how you're actually spending your time and identify areas for improvement. Other platforms like Harvest or Clockify, even with the free version can help you with setting and tracking your time.

By getting organized and prioritizing your time, you can keep the creative juices flowing while crushing your business goals.

Implementing a Monthly Review Process

I started implementing a monthly review this past year with a friend and it’s really been something incredibly beneficial for my business. Think of it as your monthly business meeting – if not with someone, with yourself. At the end of each month, dedicate some time to reviewing your wins and losses.

Dive deep into your social media stats, analyze your projects, and figure out where your money went. This isn't just about looking back; it's about setting yourself up for success in the next month. What are your goals? What needs to be tweaked?

By regularly reviewing your progress, you'll gain valuable insights, make smarter decisions, and keep your creative ship sailing smoothly.
