It's like a never-ending party with new trends and shiny objects constantly grabbing our attention. But amidst all the digital confetti, there's one reliable strategy that keeps on delivering: good old email. So, I'm doubling down on building my email list in 2025, and I'm excited to share why you should hop on board and how to do it.
5 Reasons Why Building an Email List is Still Important in 2025:
Email Lists Offer Connection
Everyone is talking about that social media algorithm! It’s becoming harder these days to reach your target audience organically. With email lists, you’re not fighting the algorithm, instead, you’re landing in someone’s inbox and it’s direct and personal. We know AI isn’t going anywhere, so it’s important to us, as humans to continue these connections and relationships more than ever.
You Maintain Ownership and Control
This is an important one for me, and ever since I’ve been designing websites, I’ve used this example when trying to reach new clients without a website. In my pitch, I’m very clear about this. We don’t the social media we post on. So, say it out loud, folks, “We…don’t…own…our…social media!”
Just imagine building a following on any social platform only to have it shut down overnight. Everything you’ve worked on would disappear. To maintain stability and control over your marketing efforts, choose an email list over any channel. Your website is yours, and so is your email list!
You Can Create Targeted and Personalized Communication
Here’s how you can apply AI tech in your business. AI can help you write more compelling subject lines and email copy. This can help you tailor your messaging to specific groups of subscribers, making sure they are reading the content that is relevant to their interests. What does this do? It creates higher engagement rates and a better relationship between you and your audience.
Driving Conversions and Sales
In my research over the years, email marketing consistently outperformed other channels. I read statistics on HubSpot or MailChimp, for example. (Here’s an article to check out)
When comparing email lists to other social platforms when it comes to driving sales, email lists work for you better than the others because you’ve built this list of people who love your content already. They are way more likely to buy from you than the void of social channels and people who haven’t engaged with you.
Bonus: Building a Community
Okay, I know I said 5 but I love a bonus, don’t you?
Email allows you to cultivate a sense of community around your brand. Sharing valuable content, asking for feedback and offering exclusive content can build that loyal audience you’ve been dreaming of. A community of people who value your brand can become major advocates who can then turn into active promoters of your biz.
I'm at a point in my business where building a strong community is incredibly energizing. As a creative, I'm passionate about sharing ideas, collaborating on projects, and connecting with others who share my enthusiasm and expertise.
Types of Blog Posts
This isn’t an exhaustive list, but after reading an incredibly long and thorough article by Brian Dean of Semrush, I’ve put together a shortlist of the most common types of blog posts.
How-to Guides: Providing a step-by-step instruction on how to do the thing, whatever that thing is. I think these are very popular because they offer a solution to a problem the user is searching for. I love these and have used this style for Squarespace and how to use the platform.
Listicles: Info in the form of a list. I enjoy these are they are simple to read and scan through. I would consider this blog post a listicle because I’ve shown you 5 reasons why I’m doubling down on email marketing.
Product Reviews: An evaluation of a product. They can be helpful for consumers who are trying to make a purchasing decision.
Opinion Pieces: These posts express the author's personal viewpoint on a particular topic. Often controversial or thought-provoking; they often generate a lot of discussion.
News Posts: A time-sensitive post as these are often reporting on any current events in a particular industry.
Case Studies: Specific to showcasing a project or campaign in business. Use this to demonstrate the effectiveness of a strategy.
Interviews: Featuring an expert in a particular field, these posts are straightforward where a conversation is recorded and written into a blog post. We learn about a variety of topics and are provided with valuable insights and perspectives from the guests being interviewed.
Infographics: Using visual elements like charts or graphs, these blog posts present information to showcase data or statistics
Evergreen Content
Imagine Evergreen content like a tall, reliable, sturdy tree that stays green and relevant throughout the seasons. In the world of online content, it refers to material that remains valuable and engaging for readers over a long period, regardless of current trends or news cycles.
Characteristics of Evergreen Content:
Topics Are Timeless: Evergreen content will always focus on a subject that is consistently interesting to people. For example: Solving common problems or learning fundamental skills.
Long-Term Relevance: Instead of articles that focus on trends or recent news, evergreen content doesn’t become outdated so quickly. This helps to continue to attract readers and generate traffic potentially years after publication.
Search Engine Value: Because evergreen content remains relevant, it will rank better in search engines, which then drives consistent organic traffic to your website.
Value For Your Readers: Evergreen content provides important insights that are continuously helpful for your readers regardless of the time it was consumed.

You Get Consistent Traffic To Your Site: Reduce the need to have to constantly reinvent the wheel.
Improved Search Engine Optimization: By providing valuable, relevant content, you’ll boost your search engine rankings which can also attract links and shares.
Cost-Effective Marketing: Without requiring any ongoing investments, Evergreen content can provide long-term value for your content marketing efforts.
Disclaimer: The Quarter Challenge doesn’t have to start at the beginning of any quarter of the year! This is a 3-month challenge that can easily fit into any date. I call it the quarter challenge because it’s a great way to start the first quarter of the year or to help you reach a milestone in a shorter period.
